Personal information

We do not collect any personal information before you register on our website: you can browse our site anonymously. If you choose to register, you will be asked to enter your name, email address, phone number or other details.

We use your personal information to get in touch with you when necessary, and to populate your public profile on Nicebooks.

Public information

When you register on Nicebooks, a public profile page is created for you. This page displays your public name, which by default is your first name and the first letter of your last name.

You can edit your public name, along with other information, at any time on the Settings page of your member area. You can choose to use your real name as your public name, or a pseudonym. The Settings page clearly separates private from public information, giving you full control over what information you choose to disclose to other users.

When you leave a book review, you understand that this review will be public, and will contain a link to your public profile.

Protection of your personal information

Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all information you supply on our site is encrypted via TLS technology.

We implement a variety of security measures when a user enters, submits, or accesses their information to maintain the safety of your personal information.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep track of who you are when you log in on our site. We may also use cookies to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You can do this through your browser settings. If you turn cookies off, you will still be able to browse our website, but will not be able to log in.

These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

Third-party vendors

We may collect anonymous browsing data through third-party vendors such as Google Analytics. This information allows us to know our visitors better: where they are coming from, what kind of browser they use, what they visit on our website, etc.

Emails

We may send you emails from time to time, for notifications or newsletters. You can choose what kind of email you want to receive in the Settings section of your member area, and opt out at any time.
